After getting my Virgin Mobile Audiovox 8915 phone
I immediatly found out that the key code ##PORT[END] does not work!
Well this is a big problem if you want to use BitPim or QPST or any other
software to talk to the phone!
Ahh but their is a work around I found!
Tools Needed:
Curitel USB Drivers
CUPST 5.2ST
Windows XP
Steps:
1) Install the Curitel USB Drivers
2) Install CUPST
3) Open Device Manager
4)
Under "Modems" you should see "Curitel Packet Service"
Under "Ports" you should see "Curitel Service Diagnostic Serial Port"
We want the "Curitel Packet Service" to be PORT 7 or greater and
"Curitel Service Diagnostic Serial Port" to be on PORT 8 or greater
(note Windows XP WILL allow you to change port values! you can find it
by clicking the "Advacned Port Settings" button in the "Advanced" tab of
the items "Property" page"
5)
Connect your USB Cable to your phone, and to your usb port, while the phone is ON.
It may prompt you to install drivers, go ahead and do that.
6)
Navigate to the directory which CUPST was installed in,
open the folder ...\CDM-8910\CDM_8910
execute the file PhoneSet.exe
The program will detect your phone on the "Curitel Packet Service" port.
Once it detects your phone, the MSL edit box will turn white.
Wait at this screen for about 20-30 seconds, and watch the screen on your phone... It should soon say..
"**Service Mode***
Once this happens your phones Ports are Turned ON!!
7)
now close the PhoneSet.exe program and open BitPim, or whatever other program you want to use (phone will still be in **Service Mode**)
Edit your programms options or settings to use the "Curitel Packet Service" port. (in our example here, port 7)
8)
your done!!! now you can access your phone with any program!!
I have not seen this method posted anywhere else, and it seems to be the Only way you can connect to some Virgin mobile phones
