i didnt get the last part of your message but i have tried cleaning the unit. and i dont have a software and cable for bird s288, only for nokia. and based on my experience in shorted swithces on nokia phones the problem is hardware, very rare in software. my idea is to make a new connection for the switch but i dont know what capacitor or ic to make the jumper. i need a circuit diagram.

just as you make jumpers in sagem phones. Birds phone are just replica of Sagem phones.
