There is patch rom to unlock gsm for Treo 650. No need unlock by log again.

:D something wrong in this solution . Maybe it shows how to remove branding from the Treo 650. Not the real unlock solution . I will try if have Treo650.

What do you mean free? you need to buy credits to unlock the phone.

well in all honesty i've only used the drivers that came with it because I was using HPST. I did start the JIC program and attempt to use it. I was working with a generic phone and the program asked for a username and password. Because the phone was generic I had neither, so my investigation of the program ended there. It never asked me to buy "credits" so I assumed it was free.

You obviously know more about the software, so if you say its not free I trust you.

TREO 650 UPDATER 1.13 DOWNLOAD =[Only Registered Users Can See Links]

Before installing the Treo 650 Updater, back up GoodLink applications and provisioning data:


Obtain a blank SD/MMC expansion card (8MB or larger). It can either be a new expansion card, or
one which you've formatted using the Card Info application on your smartphone.
Insert the blank SD/MMC card into your Treo smartphone.
On your smartphone, launch GoodLink.
Select the Home button to go to the GoodLink Home screen.
Press Menu .
From the Options menu, select GoodLink Preferences.
Select Backup.
Follow the on-screen instructions to backup GoodLink applications and data to the expansion card.
Next, perform a hard reset and change the user name of the smartphone:


Perform a hard reset.
Synchronize the smartphone with your desktop computer. Important: You will be asked to select a
user or create a new account. Select New and enter a completely new user name (such as "Temp Delete Me").
Proceed with synchronization. Your smartphone will contain none of your user data at this point.
Now you are ready to install the Treo 650 Updater to the new user name.


Press and hold Power/End to turn off the phone features and disconnect from the network.
Perform a soft reset. Important: do not skip this step. Do not perform a hard reset.
During the installation process, make sure your Treo 650's battery is fully charged and that
your smartphone is connected to both a power supply and your PC.
Change all conduits for the new user name (such as "Temp Delete Me") to 'Synchronize the files' (how).
This ensures a current backup of data normally backed up during a HotSync operation.
Download and install the updater:


Download the Treo 650 Updater version for your mobile service provider. Do not follow the
instructions on the page; come back here directly after downloading.
Unzip the file you downloaded.
Double-click the file you unzipped.
Follow all instructions in the installation wizard that will appear. This includes a HotSync operation that
will back up your personal information and transfer the Treo 650 Updater to your handheld. When asked, select
the new user name you created (such as "Temp Delete Me"). Do not select your old user name.
Once the update is complete, you can restore your user data and the GoodLink data to your smartphone:


Perform another hard reset.
Synchronize your smartphone with your PC. When asked, select the old user name which contains all the user data prior
to the first hard reset. The user data that was backed up with the first HotSync operation will be restored.
Insert the SD/MMC expansion card with the GoodLink data into your smartphone.
The GoodLink information will be restored automatically from the expansion card.

have you actually put in a different providers' sim into the phone and made a call, where before this software update that didnt work?

it looks like instructions to unbrand your phone and upgrade to the latest gsm firmware. afaik there is no way using the tools provided to unlock a treo650 gsm phone.

after i unlocked my cingular treo 650 , i insert a t-mobile sim to try but i got by the signal bar " no service , sos only " what does that means , how can i get a signal ?

exactly. you didnt unlock the phone, all the software provided does is update you to the latest ROW firmware and debrands your treo, in the case you were already unlocked, you would have a fully gsm compatible, totally unlocked, works-anywhere-in-the-world treo 650 with no logos... ahh.. a beautiful thing =]


however, once again, this does not remove the sim subsidy lock. you still need a code, or hardware unlocker

by the way i did unlock the phone through AT&T USA .... they give me the unlock code and after i type the code it came a message saying phone unlocked or network unlock .... my quistion is there is a special setting for the phone to work withe t-mobile ...?

hm, if you were provided the sim subsidy unlock code you should be able to use the tmobile sim in an area where t-mobile has coverage. does your phone give you the message 'your phone cannot be used with this sim' ? have you tried the phone in a different area of your city, it might be a lack of coverage in your area.

like i say , it work for me, before i tested with a sim from telcel ,mexico; don't work then

i do all that and check after with a telcel sim and it work, got signal a can made and receive phone calls .
