Hello,

I purchased the above "used" phone from Ebay with the intent to swap out my old Kyocera. However, according to Virgin, the phone was never "unlocked" by Target when purchased. Since I don't have a Target receipt, Target says they cannot help. My feeling is I'm sol but I just want to be sure.

Before I throw away more money and return the phone, I wanted to ask the experts here if there is any way to clear the "programming required" error that the phone is displaying. One can tell it is a brand new phone.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the reply.

I entered nam and had the option to input a number. If you pick a random number, the phone actually will have a normal screen, with the virgin logo, time, etc.

However, I still cannot use it to replace my current phone. I believe Target's computer has to tell Virgin's that it's ok for this phone to be in service (that it was actually purchased).

So, my question is: can I talk my way into this at Target with no receipt. Does anyone have any clue? It's a great phone and it sickens me to have to return it.

hjaving the same prob with snapper bought on E-bay - Virgin tells me to take it to walmart with original receipt (yeah, that's gonna happen) and is of absolutely no further use... Is it just for the landfill or is there a way I can clone it to my old esn? (same phone - bricked - this was replacement, but as I said, got denied by VM) Anyhelp?
