Anyone know of any software to change the esn? If I use bitpim I see the ESN in the esn.sys file. But I can't upload it. Will any of the old kyrocera palm program work? thanks

Use QPST program
make #ESN.sys file with new ESN
move to phone and del the old *.sys
rebuild eprom
waiting restart
OK

But I can't overwrite new ESN.
QPSt program says ' Illegal operation'
Maybe I think this is read only file.
Any idea?

I had folow the steps to change the ESN and it was sucesful the reading of the phone an everything i i had edit the nvm folder but now i tried the write the file back to the phone it won't let me give me and error and do not write the new esn please any help to resolve this:confused:

Did you try a warm reset? Push the reset hole in and press up on the keypad.

OK, so I try and explain this... warm reset, cold reset it will not matter. To use the serial cable you have to goto datamode using the phone code. Once the phone is accessed the ESN file is locked.

The only way you'll be getting this done is through the bootloader somehow. If anybody knows another way then stop playing cloak and dagger and just spill it in a PM or email.

If you can't edit it that way then you'll have to edit a ROM image and save it that way. I'm going to order a serial cable and give it a shot.

I don't think it is even possible to edit the ESN via a ROM imagesimply because it is just the plain old palm PRC's for the calendar,etc.

Anamore (sorry if i misspelled your name) has an untested solution. I unfortunatly don't have the money to spend he is asking for. What he told me makes sense and if you are interested send him a PM.

I think amoamare have the same i have and is tested, so only problem is some treo stay only in palm os not work in phone funtion.

That's a very BIG problem since it totally negates the purpose of the smartphone :p

Have you guys tried finding the cause of the error? You should know the # code for the last recorded error (it's ##ERR ;) )

The only problem I have thus far is wasting time. There are those who claim to know what is going on and "how to" but they expect you to run when they say there is a price. I on the other hand asked that they name a price and then get no reply at all :/

I am at a stoping point, unless you can come thru to me, and that will really make me very very sad, if I caint use my toy, and ya'll wouldnt want that now, would you? 1.- Put code into passthroughg mode, #*#3424#
2.- Put in dm with se47 slider tool from kyocera
3.- Read treo with DENSO PST
4.- Search lab options then EFS
5.- Open My Phone
6.- NVM
7.- NVM_0002
8.- And read lock phone and SPC code.

I think someone find the solution in the 700p thread. still use bootloader method and usb cable but different commands.

or use shadowmite's method, change esn, fix crc etc with serial cable.

INCORRECT! the posted info is for the 700 series.. It WILL not work on the 650. Anyone with a solution that doesnt involve a box PLZ PM me!

As far as i know as long you have the usb serial cable the box its worthless...
I have tried with many methods and havent been successful..the price for the software its like $200 but I dont think it any support..:confused:

I have the serial cable for the Treos and I'm able to change the ESN on the 700p,700w/x and the 755p in less than 5 mins with CDMA Workshop but the 650 won't let me do it. I can't believe an ancient phone like the treo 650 is still so hard to crack when it comes to repairing the ESN.

2. Copy the CDMA updater to MEM card
3. install resco to pda
4. run CDAMAUPDATER from mem card using resco
5. Back up NV.... Search for it using resco copy to card
6. edit using hexeditor find original esn
7. restore nvbackup

Ok. This is the same method I've tried before and it doesnt work. I mean I am well known on shadowmite.com for being one of the first to verizon a treo 650 with GINUINE update, So I have experience with the roms, as well as the file system and tokens. last i tried same instructions thus the missing step of replacing the file you edited with the hex editor and using the nv restore in the cdma updater. This yeilded no success and made it impossible to do an ota update afterwards! anyone with REAL news about esn change, please post with something we can use, not something that will mess up our esn chips!:mad:
