Enhanced Roaming
The CDM-4000 is equipped with Enhanced Roaming (ER).
Enhanced Roaming:
ER enables Carriers to pre-program up to 200 SIDs per NAM. When the phone
is operating out of the Home area, the phone will seek and lock onto one
of the pre-programmed SIDs, if available.
ER SID Capacity:
Up to 200 SIDs can be pre-programmed in NAM1. In addition, up to 200 SIDs
can be pre-programmed in NAM2.
ER SID Types:
Two categories of SIDs are available: (A) Affiliated and (B) Preferred.
The 200 (ER) SID slots in NAM1 (and NAM2) can be designated as Affiliated
or Preferred in any combination. The only restriction is that the total
number cannot exceed 200.
ER Operation
The phone has the following A/B switch Selections:
Auto Roam, Prefer, Home Only, Non Prefer, and Standard.
The enhanced Roaming function is active when the A/B selection is in Auto
Roam or Prefer. In Auto Roam, both Affiliated as well as preferred SIDs
can be selected. In Prefer only Affiliated SIDs can be selected. The
other A/B selections are self-explanatory.
SID Preference in ER Mode
The phone will scan for SIDs that are programmed in its ER memory and
select in the following order of preference;
1) Home SID or Affiliated SID in CDMA mode (Auto Roam and Prefer)
2) Home SID or Affiliated SID in Analog mode (Auto Roam and Prefer)
3) Preferred SID in CDMA mode (Auto Roam only)
4) Preferred SID in Analog mode (Auto Roam only)
5) Other SIDs (Auto Roam only)
(Note: In the ER mode, there will be "No Service" if there is not usable
signal from a SID or the ER or a SID on the same side as the Home
System, even if there is a usable signal from the "other side".
Under service would be provided for 911 type calls).
Programming of ER SIDs:
ER SIDs can be programmed by the following methods:
a) By key-pad Entry.
b) Pre-programmed by Audiovox if specified by the Carrier.
c) Via a PC, using special software available through Audiovox.
