How to deal with ' NV Write response: NV_READONLY'

Hi,
I want to change ESN of my own cdma mobile.

When doing follows,

MODE OFFLINE-D
spc "000000"
NV_WRITE ESN {0x12345678}

It shows 'NV Write response: NV_READONLY'. Could anyone help me to solve this problem.

what's the phone you're dealing with? it depends on the make, msm, etc. Did you put your phone into the DM?

My phone is Treo 650 CDMA. I successfully changed ESN for Treo 600 CDMA by the same way, but failed to change Treo 650 CDMA, and shows 'NV Write response: NV_READONLY'.

By the way, what is DM?

DM stands for Diagnostic Mode.

yfyao1 : are you sure you can change ESN in Treo 600 by just NV_WRITE ESN?

As far as I can remember it was impossible in my sample of Treo 600 which I had 1 year ago.

Normally you would get a response like "this item is read-only" because ESN is not supposed to be changed at any time after the phone leaves the factory, it's like a VIN number on your car's ************. Thus it is supposed to be very well protected.
